Does the Samsung Galaxy A15 Have eSIM? What to Use for Travel Data
Most Galaxy A15 phones take physical SIM cards only. Check your phone in one minute, then pick the travel data option that works for you.
No, in most cases the Samsung Galaxy A15 does not have eSIM. Neither the Galaxy A15 nor the A15 5G appears on Samsung's own lists of eSIM phones, which name A-series models such as the A35, A36, A55 and A56. To check your phone, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for "Add eSIM". Without eSIM hardware, a travel eSIM will not install. The good news: you can still get cheap mobile data abroad with a physical SIM card.
Quick answer
- Galaxy A15 (4G) and Galaxy A15 5G: not on Samsung's eSIM phone lists (checked 22 October 2026). No eSIM.
- How to be sure: open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If you see "Add eSIM" or "Add mobile plan", your phone can use eSIM. If you only see your SIM card slots, it cannot.
- What to do instead: use a local or travel physical SIM, a roaming pass from your home carrier, or share data from another device's hotspot.
How to check if your Galaxy A15 supports eSIM
It takes about a minute, and it is the only check that matters for the phone in your hand.
- Open Settings and tap Connections.
- Tap SIM manager.
- Look for Add eSIM or Add mobile plan. If it is there, your model supports eSIM. If it is missing, it does not.
- To see your exact model, go to Settings > About phone and note the model number (it starts with SM-A15...). Search that model number on your carrier's device list if you are unsure.
You can also check your model's spec page on samsung.com: Samsung says to look for "Embedded-SIM" under SIM size.

Travel data options for a phone without eSIM
1. Buy a local SIM card when you land
Airport kiosks and phone shops in most countries sell prepaid SIM cards with data. They are often the cheapest option per GB. Bring your passport, because many countries require ID to register a SIM. Make sure your A15 is unlocked first (see below).
2. Order a physical travel SIM before you go
Many travel SIM sellers post a physical SIM card that works in several countries. It arrives before your trip, so you have data the moment you land. Check the coverage list for your destination and the activation date before you buy.
3. Use your home carrier's roaming pass
Some carriers sell a daily or weekly roaming pass. It costs more than a local SIM but needs no setup: your normal number and SIM keep working. Check the price per day before you travel, and turn on data roaming only after you have the pass.
4. Share a hotspot
If someone in your group has an eSIM phone or a pocket Wi-Fi device, they can share data with your A15 over Wi-Fi. This works well for couples and families on short trips.
Use both SIM slots (if your A15 has two)
If your A15 has two nano-SIM slots, keep your home SIM in slot 1 for calls and text codes from your bank, and put the travel SIM in slot 2 for data. Then go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager and set Mobile data to the travel SIM. Turn off data roaming on your home SIM so it does not use expensive roaming data by mistake.
Check that your phone is unlocked
A local or travel SIM only works if your phone is not locked to your home carrier. Put a SIM from another network in the phone: if it shows a "SIM network unlock" message, the phone is locked. Ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel. Many carriers do this for free once the phone is paid off.
Tips to save data abroad
- Download maps for offline use before you leave.
- Turn off automatic app updates and backups over mobile data.
- Use Wi-Fi in hotels and cafes for video calls and large downloads.
- Set a mobile data warning in Settings > Connections > Data usage.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Samsung Galaxy A15 have eSIM?
In most cases, no. The Galaxy A15 and A15 5G are not on Samsung's own lists of eSIM phones. Check Settings > Connections > SIM manager: if there is no "Add eSIM" option, your phone has no eSIM.
Does the Galaxy A15 5G support eSIM?
The Galaxy A15 5G is not on Samsung's eSIM lists either; Samsung Australia's list names the A36 5G, A55 5G and A56 5G instead. Use the SIM manager check above to confirm on your own phone.
Can I install a travel eSIM on my Galaxy A15?
Not if your phone has no eSIM option in SIM manager. The eSIM profile needs eSIM hardware in the phone. Use a physical travel SIM or a local SIM instead.

Some versions take two nano-SIM cards and some take one, so check your phone's SIM tray. With two slots, you can keep your home SIM and add a local SIM for data.

Usually a local prepaid SIM bought on arrival. Your phone must be unlocked, and you may need your passport to register the SIM.
